Yesterday this song was performed by Kelly DeHaan at Heather's Memorial Concert. It made me realize that even though sometimes it hurts to be alive, I'm so glad I am. I was very deeply touched by the lyrics and his performance. I wish I could somehow share it with you, but the following will have to do. By Stephen Sondheim, and performance by Bernadette Peters.
Someone to hold you too close
Someone to hurt you too deep
Someone to sit in your chair
And ruin your sleep
And make you aware of being alive
Someone to need you too much
Someone to know you too well
Someone to pull you up short
And put you through hell
And give you support for being alive-being alive
Make me alive, make me confused
Mock me with praise, let me be used
Vary my days, but alone is alone, not alive!
Somebody hold me too close
Somebody force me to care
Somebody make me come through
I'll always be there
As frightened as you of being alive,
Being alive, being alive!
Someone you have to let in
Someone whose feelings you spare
Someone who, like it or not
Will want you to share a little, a lot of being alive
Make me alive, make me confused
Mock me with praise, let me be used
Vary my days, but alone is alone, not alive!
Somebody crowd me with love
Somebody force me to care
Somebody make me come through
I'll always be there
As frightened as you to help us survive,
Being alive, being alive, being alive, being alive.

Thank You Heather Jo!
Heather, Me, and Eden in NYC.
She was my friend through THICK and THIN. She passed away the other night. She had cancer, the unstoppable type. But she has an unstoppable spirit, that I KNOW will keep going. I am so thankful I got to see her one last time before she left. I feel very lucky.
In 2003, Heather and I, and our friend Eden flew to New York to audition for American Idol. We didn't make it past the first cut, but had a wonderful time! Here are some pictures from that unforgettable trip.
1 a.m., camped out in the streets of NY, waiting for AI audition time. (Heather's the one sandwiched in the middle.)
After seeing the AMAZING origional cast of "Thouroughly Modern Millie," we got a picture with my friend and TMM castmember, Paul Canaan and Sutton Foster (Millie).
Heather makes the sad face at Sardi's.
Taking in some jazz @ Birdland.
Heather, I'll remember those good times; surviving Cedar, letting Julie Aigner-Clark raise our babies, wandering Wal-Mart, and laughing til we cried. Thank you for loving me, forgiving me, and setting an unparalleled example for me to cherish.
Love, Rochelle a.k.a. "Sheilagh"
p.s. I'm counting on an apple pie run in heaven. Surely they'll have a McDonald's up there somewhere (They're EVERYWHERE!)

The King of Birthdays
Spencer was taking an extra long time changing into his pajamas. I was just about to check to see what the delay was when I heard him approach, exclaiming, "I'm the King of Birthdays!" I just couldn't resist taking a picture or two.

I bet you'd never seen the King of Birthdays before. Neither had I. I'm learning there's a first for everything :)

Thank You C.C.!
Thank goodness for good friends like Marcie Hastings. She has been living in San Francisco and we haven't seen each other for at least a year, though it seems much longer. Yesterday she, her little side-kick Franklin, and our friend Liz came up for a visit. My parents (who are HUGE Marcie fans) were also here. Ben missed out, he was at his moms. It really was a great visit!

Marcie (or C.C.) has become Spencer and Will's unofficial aunt. They LOVE her and absolutely loved her dog Franklin. Rocky (our dog) also loved Franklin, however Franklin found Rocky's size a bit intimidating.
Marcie has been my friend since I lived in Cedar City. When she lived closeby, we would have so much fun, going to dinner, going to movies, indulging in our favorite pass-time: retail therapy. I'm so glad your my friend, Marcie! Let's get together again soon. A year is just too long.
