Family Time

This weekend my sister and her family and my mom and dad came up for a little family reunion. Unfortunately, my brothers and their families were unable to come and were greatly missed. Man, we sure had fun. Rob prepared for the festivities by going on a fishing trip. We celebrated a great man's birthday. . . Happy 62nd Birthday Dad! On Saturday morning: Delynn, Mom and I went to Midway's Swiss Days to see what that was all about. We were in heaven! All I can say is next year, we want to shop Friday AND Saturday. There was so much to see! Well, back at the house, Mom had a slew of activities planned for the kids. The theme was secret agents so we all had secret agent names. I was agent LaFawnduh.

Picture this if you can: A bubble machine that produces bubbles that engulf ones entire body (grown-ups and kids alike, Aunt Janean, you're a genius!). Kids tip-toeing and crawling around my front room in an attempt to avoid a web of lasers (red yarn strung every which way). Target practice in the backyard (A pinata). Super Spy Sneaking lessons (tips on how to get from here to there without being seen). Mom and Dad's huge tent in the backyard for the kids to play in. Water Fun (A Slip 'n' Slide, two kid pools and a massive water fight). Walk to Cascade Springs. Picnic at the park. Spontaneous naps. Delicious Food (A dutch oven feast, pulled pork sandwiches, chorizo con huevos etc.). Pajama Movie Night (everyone selected 5 minutes of their favorite movie to share with the crowd). We had a schmorgasborg of clips ranging from Quest For Camelot, Twilight, Elf, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Funny Girl, Spirit, Hannah Montana, Nacho Libre, Presto, Rocky Balboa, to Platoon (that clip was watched after the kids went to bed, sorry Rob ;)). Delynn's 6 week old Dachsund puppy romping around and napping in many eager arms. Night Games (Using flashlights and their new sneaking skills, the kids played hide and sneak in the backyard).

We had all of that and MORE! The whole weekend was a riot, and between the chaos, the mayhem, and the giggles, I think the best thing that was shared, was time. Unforgettable! Good job, Mom!

All I can say is WOW. That makes me want to go have a big family reunion right now and steal all your mom's ideas and be the star of the party! Do you think she'd mind?
